Kickoff Christmas Weekend

I am still recovering from last weekend. Still. It was a whirlwind but so much fun and a great way to kickoff Christmas :) Saturday night we had a friends Christmas party at our house and it was a blast. We had 25+ friends (most Toby met in Pharmacy school) plus four little girls over for food, drinks, games and a totally awesome round of dirty Santa.

Toby and I are really blessed to have great friends around us. At one point we had four little sleeping angels upstairs while we all laughed and played games downstairs :) Oh, how times have changed in the past few years but I wouldn't trade a minute of it. I have a feeling there will be even more sweet angels at next year's gathering (though none I will be adding, so don't get any crazy ideas haha).

After a late night of partying with friends we woke up early Sunday to head to Toby's hometown for an early Christmas. Leighton had an ear infection that she started antibiotics for that morning (thank you take care clinic that is open on Sundays) but she was still excited to see her Nana, Grandaddy and the crew.

Leighton was very into the idea of presents this year. It is crazy what a difference a few months makes. At her 2nd birthday she didn't seem too crazy about opening anything but now, oh my, she was handing them out to people, opening them, stacking them, pretty much in love with them :) Her infamous phrase "one more please" was said on repeat.

She got some pretty cool toys including a barbie car equipped with a Barbie and Ken who she keeps calling "Mommy and Daddy" haha and a kids digital camera. She has been a busy girl all week taking pictures and racing Barbie and Ken down our foyer hall. Gracen was happy being held and watching all the excitement. She got some fun toys too and has been loving her new rattles all week :)

We had a delicious Christmas dinner thanks to Nana and Aunt Jenny who cooked it all up and sweet Grandmom who brought the yummy ham. Nana's corn pudding is our family's favorite so any meal that includes that is a winner in our books :) Leighton was a fan of the pumpkin pie (her first taste) and the "geen beens." She loved hanging with her cousin Mollie "Mol-Mol" and Uncle Mark "Maaaaaaaak".

We had a wonderful day but it went by too quick! That seems to be a theme with my life lately. Here I am in awe of all my blessings this past year and the fact that I have a new baby to watch on her first Christmas! Kickoff Christmas weekend was a success and worth every second of exhaustion. Happy it is only the start of our season :)
