We woke up Thursday morning and watched the Thanksgiving Parade which was not exactly a hit with the girls. Maybe next year!
While Toby tried to convince Leighton that the floats were coming soon, I made a turkey cheese ball to take with us to Thanksgiving. He was a cute little guy.
I tried to get the girls together for a picture before we left for Lexington. Getting both girls to look at the camera and smile at the same time is impossible! I consider this successful :)
Our attempt at a little family photo. We took a ton of shots and I swear this was the "best". Little kids and posed pictures really don't mix. Leighton was too enthralled with her baby koala someone brought her from the Australian zoo...
That someone was my cousin, Chase, who surprised us (and his family) by being home for Thanksgiving. He has been studying in New Zealand for 10 months and we weren't expecting him until Christmas. The video of him surprising his mom (my Auntie J) is a tearjerker. Having everyone together was definitely something I was thankful for! Leighton was only 18 months when he left but it took her all of 0.5 seconds to warm up to Uncle Chase :)
I'm pretty sure she thought he came home to surprise her! She stayed close to his side all day long. He played a little "hootball" with her, as girlie as she can be most of the time, she loves to get outside and play! No Thanksgiving is complete without a little "hootball" :) She catches on quick!
Toby's parents and Grandmom came up from Corbin to spend the day. The girls were happy to see their Nana!
And Grandmom was happy to get in some cuddles with Gracen. With so many baby hogs in the house you have to get them in while you can :)
Gracen's little smile just melts my heart. She is such a sweet little baby and growing up so fast. I am so happy to have her with us this Thanksgiving!
Auntie Chelsi came down from DC. Here she is cuddling with Miss Gracen who was exhausted from all the excitement.
Of course "Gaga" was there. You can just see the love Leighton has for her in this picture. She asks about Gaga every single day and just loves to be her little sidekick.
Leighton and Poppy throwing around the baseball. Poppy and Aunt Kylee are little Leighton's only hope of learning about baseball. Mommy and Daddy are not big baseball people. Well Mommy is not a big any-type-of-sports person :) Daddy prefers basketball and football.
If you can't tell Leighton really hated all the attention she was getting ;)
Here are all the cousins (minus my sister Robyn). Growing up we were more like siblings than cousins. We lived only a street apart for most of our lives and did everything together. To this day, we can go months without seeing each other and it's like nothing has changed when we are reunited.
The girl cousins and their loves. Dating...Married...Engaged :)
Old married couple :)
My mom, Dad, sister, me and our clan :) My sister went back to her dark hair color a few days before Thanksgiving. She kept catching me off guard all day because I wasn't used to it lol. It turned out super cute and perfect for winter!
Leighton's dessert plate. It was the only time all weekend where she sat still. She sat outside with Auntie Chelsi and ate every single bite. This girl has a sweet tooth like I've never seen before (except maybe her Grand-daddy). Defintely her favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal!
After dessert, we headed over to my older sister's house to spend time with my little nephew who was recovering from his tonsillectomy (the reason she was missing from all the family pictures).
I changed the girls into their jammies and let them love on their cousins and Aunt Robyn and Uncle Chris.
Gobble, gobble, from my cute little turkey.
The girls had so much fun playing together and they played hard. I have the cutest video of them dancing and singing in Lyla's room that both girls have been obsessed with watching.
Leighton really wanted to listen to Lyla's heart. She loves playing doctor.
Chase was a hit with Lyla too. Everyone is happy to have him back home.
We stayed at my parents that night and the girls slept hard. Little Miss Gracen even slept through the night (FIRST TIME EVER) from 10pm to 5am. I couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock at 5am. I was so proud :) On Black Friday afternoon, Toby and I decided to brave the crowds with the girls and head to the mall. We found a few good deals before heading back to Louisville. This was Toby's weekend to work so we couldn't stay any longer :( but that's what you get when you work in healthcare. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of great food, family time and fun, fun, fun. Can't wait until Christmas!

Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis was by far the most memorable and fun Thanksgiving-- it would have been COMPLETE if the Houlds and Honeycutts could have been there. I am so thankful to get to watch all my beautiful family grow into amazing people, and then create their own little amazing people. Unbelievably blessed, and never ungrateful :)
