Toby and I took the girls to meet our mall Santa and right when we walked up, both girls' smiles & excitement quickly turned to fear and tears! Oh my. NO ONE wanted to sit on Santa's lap. Leighton just froze with tears in her eyes while Gracen loudly proclaimed, "NOOOOOOO," and shook her head to let us know she REALLY meant NOOOO!
Sooo, our Santa visit didn't turn out quite like we had planned. We ended up just waving and smiling (both girls were ok with that) from the sidelines. Luckily Santa was not busy at all and was able to wave and talk to the girls (from a distance). We decided not to attempt a picture because, really, they were both TERRIFIED. We ended up just parking them by the mall Christmas tree so we could at least document the experience :) We'll try again next year!
Toby and I hosted a Christmas Party this year for our friends and kiddos. Here is a cute shot of all the babies...ALL GIRLS! We need to add some boys to this bunch...maybe next year ;) (not by me though hehe). How sweet are these girls? My heart melts...
Gracen has decided that "Smiling's her favorite!" And just in time for lots and lots of holiday pictures. If you get the camera out she will look and cheese without missing a beat. Sooo much different than how Leighton was at this age (Little Miss Serious), but I'm not complaining. I mean just LOOK at that sweet cheese ;)
Hmm, maybe she was smiling because of her winter treat :)
Leighton was smiling because her favorite CHASE came to visit!
We also had a sleepover at Nana and Granddaddy's house and an early Christmas with Toby's side of the family (more on that later). So fun!
Daddy brought home a gingerbread house for us to build :) Leighton loved decorating while Gracen loved licking the icing. Silly girls...
We've also just spent some days together as a family; making candy, watching movies and reading our favorite Christmas stories.
Leighton was so excited Nana gave her Daddy's old elves. She was mostly excited because, unlike her Little Elf, you can touch these. "Dere not magical Mama!" She named them Perla & Gus Gus after the mice in Cinderella and loves playing with them. The girls had a dance party with them in the kitchen before bed one night :)
They have a ladder so they can climb our tree and hang candy canes :)

The girls both had Christmas parties (Leighton at school and Gracen at her music class). Both brought big smiles to their sweet little faces...seen here when they got home :)
Every moment Toby and I get to spend with these two is truly a blessing and our BEST gift in life. They make every single day fun and a new adventure. My heart breaks for the families in Newtown, CT who won't get to have fun memories with their babies ever again. My heart, prayers and mind are with them this holiday season.
