Whew! July has been one busy month and we're not even halfway in. Obviously several days were devoted to my sweet Leighton's 4th birthday but before that a couple of other pretty BIG things happened...
First, I turned the big 3-0! My twenties feel like they flew by and left behind some wonderful memories but I'm excited to see what this next decade holds :)
Toby surprised me with a little overnight getaway. We went to French Lick Resort for the weekend and had a blast. We spent Saturday lounging by the pool and drinking some delicious Bloody Mary's (Effen Cucumber Vokda...try it) and eating. Yum.
That night we headed to the casino for dinner (where we were the youngest people in the restaurant by at least 20 years...30 didn't seem so bad after all lol) and for some gambling action.
I learned how to play craps and we had a good run at the roulette table. There may have been a bit of a learning curve with the craps table...I tried to roll all six dice at once and then rolled so hard one went flying off the table and got lost in the casino, never to be found again...BUT I did get the hang of it and doubled my money later in the night. Redemption :)
Toby and I danced the night away like we were 21. We kept saying how much our legs were going to hurt the next day...totally not 21 anymore! But it sure was fun pretending ;)
We headed back to our room around 1am and I ordered room service haha. Best $20 turkey sandwich I've ever had. Happy Birthday to this old gal!
On my actual birthday Toby and I headed to Jeff Ruby's for a kid free dinner :) Nothing says "Happy Birthday" like a delicious filet and a birthday gift from Beyonce! Toby got me tickets to see her in December. Can't wait!
On the way out of dinner we saw a Maserati...he had me pose by it. Hmm, maybe I'll put it on my dream board...
I had so much fun celebrating 30, but my two greatest gifts were waiting for me at home. Can't wait to spend the next decade watching these two angels grow up (but not too fast hopefully...). Blessed.
After I got 30 under my belt, it was time to celebrate one of my best friends, Becky! Becky and David got married on July 4th at My Old Kentucky Home. Becky was glowing as she walked down the aisle with her Dad.
It was so beautiful to watch someone I love so much marry her prince charming. I can remember when we were college roommates and would spend lazy Sundays watching Lifetime movies in our dorm room and wonder who we would marry someday ;) So happy for my sweet friend.
It was also nice to catch up with my girlfriends. We aren't all together much anymore between work, babies, different cities and just life...
Of course Leighton loves any excuse to attend a wedding and Gracen was excited to get her hands on some cake.
Spending time with family & friends seems to be my theme for the summer so far and I wouldn't want it any other way! Hope your summer has been fabulous too :)
