After a long, relaxing, super fun summer, it was a little bittersweet to get Leighton back to school. It helped that she was SO excited to return and see her old friends and teachers. I can't tell you how many times she told me she wished she could see Ms. Kathy and Ms. Katy (her teachers from last year) just one more time :) She got her wish when we ran into Ms. Kathy at her open house and then she ran into Ms. Katy on her first day. She was so happy to see some familiar faces and friends from last year were in her class again this year. These babies sure do grow up fast!!!
So after a great Labor Day weekend, we packed up her Spiderman backpack and she headed to her first day of Pre-K on Tuesday. She woke me up at 7am and wanted to get dressed. She was READY!
I can not believe this is her last year of preschool at Middletown Christian and next year we will be heading to the big kindergarten. How has this happened? I am so excited for everything she will learn this year and all of the new friends she will make. She truly loves going to school and I am so thankful for her preschool that has nurtured her love for learning (and playing hehe).
She loves her new teachers Ms. Tricia and Ms. Marianne. I know this year is going to be wonderful for her. Each year she grows and learns so much and it just makes me so proud to see her flourish. One of her learning goals for this year is to be able to identify sight words and start to learn to read. READ! Oh I can not wait for the day she can read to me.
Of course she proudly wore her new Spiderman backpack her Nana bought her this summer. Thanks Nana :) I was talking to one of the Mom's at open house and she asked if Leighton was still in love with Spiderman and I assured her the love was stronger than ever ;)
She was excited to bring her "All About Me" bag to share with her teachers and friends. It was her first assignment for the year :) Each student had to bring five items that described them and they all had to all fit in this little brown bag. Leighton's bag included a toy gallon of milk (she is a milk-aholic), a little soccer ball, a small baby doll, a miniature spiderman (of course) and a picture of her family & doggies.
A few more pictures and she was really ready to start her big day. I love that I have trained her to take pictures before pretty much everything. She just expects it now ;) Love her!!!!
We are only three days into the school year and my head is already spinning. We are busy, busy, busy! Between soccer practice, soccer games and dance class our days are pretty packed. I have to admit I am loving the routine but I am tired (How in the world do you working moms do it all? You guys are amazing!).
I love being able to be there for all of her big moments and I am also really loving having my little sidekick go everywhere with me! Sweet little bit loves to have one on one time with Mama and Daddy! She is also well trained with pictures hehe.
Enjoying each milestone with my girlies is true love for me :) Happy 2013-14 school year Leighton Layne!
