Well the days just keep passing by don't they??? I found out I was pregnant a year ago this week and now here I sit with a chunky, lovey, happy, perfect, little (well not really little) 4 month old. FOUR MONTHS! We headed to the doctor for his well checkup (doc thinks he's perfect just like meee) and found out some more of the same...He's a big ole lovable guy :)
Measurements:
Height: 26.5 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 18 lbs (97th percentile)
Head: 44 cm (80th percentile)
Eating:
Big guy is still a big guy but his weight has slowed down this past month...he didn't even gain a pound from last month...our little shrimp ;) During the day he eats every three hours. Still exclusively nursing and doesn't get many bottles of pumped milk unless he is hanging with Daddy (or Grammy hehe). When he does take a bottle he takes 4 ounces. He likes his milk HOT and sometimes will require it rewarmed before he will finish it haha.
Sleeping:
He lays down each night around 8pm (give or take 30 mins). He nurses before bed and I lay him down groggy but awake in his bed (he's still in our room in the pack n' play). He still loves his sound machine and we keep it on all night. He sleeps in a sleep sack with a onesie underneath and that seems to keep him the perfect temperature. He has gone up to six hours the first stretch of sleep at night but in the last week he's been going more like 4 hours before waking.
My doctor did say he should be sleeping better at night and warned me not to create bad sleep habits (sleeping in our bed, cough, cough). I just smiled and nodded along with him while I thought in my head that I wasn't going to change a darn thing from what we are doing haha. He is my LAST BABY and I'm enjoying and soaking up every last bit of having a baby...sleepless nights and all ;)
When he wakes up at night I can get him back to sleep within 5 mins and then I either keep him with me or put him in the rock n play next to my bed. He usually wakes for the day around 7:30 and if Toby is home he stays in bed with his Daddy while I get the girls ready for school. I think it's so cute that his Dad gets him ready & dressed for the day (with the clothes I tell him of course lol). The guys and gals stick together in the mornings :)
Personality:
He has the sweetest disposition! The sweetest. He is SO smiley and smiles all the time. I absolutely can not get enough of that sweet smile and his one dimple. Melt my heart! He has started using his hands to grab any and everything he sees! He loves standing in his exersaucer and can spin himself around to get to the toys he wants. He has this love/hate relationship with this parrot on it. It is his favorite toy and he is always moving to find it but it swings around and is hard to grab and gets him SO mad at times! Temper, temper!
I can tell the difference between his cries; sleepy, hungry & mad. His sleepy cry is quiet and pitiful while the other two are loud and demanding! Unfortunately sitting in his car seat usually brings out the mad cry. Having a baby that actually tolerated the car seat was nice while it lasted...but Hayes has kissed those days goodbye!
Details:
We call him the man baby because really he does NOT act his age. He can sit up for minutes at a time, is cutting two bottom teeth (I can see the tips), loves to stand, wears 9-12 month clothes and talks to us in baby babble all day long. He hates his carseat and insists on riding in an umbrella stroller all over town! When I grocery shop I just hold him because he refuses to sit in the car seat...refuses! I am SO excited about the possibility of him actually sitting in the cart (I've got my cart cover freshly washed and ready to go for our next trip!) and just know that he is going to love looking around and watching everything!
He is SO observant and constantly staring at people and watching what they are doing. Especially those crazy sisters of his ;) He thinks they are SO hilarious and smiles at them constantly. He will laugh if tickled and has laughed AT us a couple of times now (fake sneezing haha).
Siblings:
They are the three musketeers. I can just see the girls babying Hayes his whole life. If he's upset or crying one of them will ALWAYS run to him with sweet words and try to soothe him. Gracen always says, "OH Hayes man...don't cry Hayes man..." They have been SO good about sharing the attention with him (let's be honest babies require a lot of attention). He joins them for story time before bed and goes to their dance class every week. He is our little baby and we are all enjoying him SOOO much.
Sibling Stats:
Hayes is still the biggest! Must be a boy thing...
Gracen's:
Height: 25.5 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs 5 oz (100th percentile)
Head: 41 cm (80th percentile)
Leighton's:
Height: 25 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 16lbs 8 oz (95th percentile)
And the pic of Hayes man to compare...
DO my children have thighs or WHAT?!!! So hilarious :)
Month 4 with our guy...Happiness. I never knew a little boy could bring so much happiness to us and our girls.
