Hayes Robert...Five months old

Five whole months with the sweetest guy on the planet. No really. He is the sweetest baby EVER. He loves to cuddle and give hugs and is content to be held 24/7. Still sweet and still big...not much has changed ;)

Measurements:
Height: 27 inches (80th percentile)
Weight: 19 lbs 6 oz (90th percentile)

Eating:
Still exclusively nursing and going good. Eats about every 3-4 hours during the day and gets a 6oz pumped bottle before bed. He tried rice cereal this month and hated it. I gave him some bananas a few days ago and he LOVED them. He sits with us at dinner in his highchair and watches us eat and squeals. He's ready to eat! He opens his mouth wide for bites and totally gets the concept. Now I just have to decide what I want to do.

I was debating whether to do baby lead weaning but the more I read about it the more I don't think it's for me. Mostly because I am terrified of choking. Terrified. My five year old still gets her grapes cut in half. I know the BLW book talks about a baby's gag reflex and how they will spit out a bite that's too big for them, but I don't think I can do it. I will probably end up doing a mix between organic jarred and letting him eat what we do...mashed up :)

Sleeping:
He sleeps through the night!!! Hallelujah! I moved him to his crib one night on a whim annnnnd he slept straight through until 5am. I think I was holding the big guy back making him sleep in the cramped pack n play in my room all this time haha. I do miss having him right beside me though. Most nights he goes down between 7 & 7:30 and sleeps until 5:30. He's had a few night where he's slept until 7:30 am. All of the sleep has been amazing!

He seems to love sleeping in his own room. We use a humidifier and his sound machine stays on all night. Must be a relaxing combo for him :) We started using nighttime diapers and they work SO good. I don't know if it's a boy thing or what but he was soaking through his diapers at night (my girls never once did this). The nighttime diapers have solved this problem! Amazing! As far as day sleeping goes...there isn't much going on haha. He usually takes a morning nap in his swing (1 hour max) and the rest of his naps are squeezed in during carpool or in his stroller when we are out. He really doesn't nap.

Personality:
Sweet. Lovable. Observer. Smiley. Happy. Content. Laid back. I could go on and on. He loves being with his Mama (which I adore) but is social and will smile at and let anyone hold him. He goes to BSF one morning a week and stays in the nursery at church on Sundays. Easy going guy makes life pretty easy on us :)

He has had a cold for the last week and has wanted extra cuddles. Who could blame him. He really is happiest when being held. He also is a talker! He squeals and babbles and complains when he is grumpy. It is so funny. Toby and I were out shopping and someone actually came up and commented they had never heard a baby talk so much and then she was shocked to learn he wasn't even 5 months yet (it was a few weeks ago). We think he just wants to make sure he is heard in this crazy house full of girls :)

Details:
He can sit up and play with toys. He can reach for a toy and get back to sitting to play with it. He has his two bottom teeth. He can roll front to back and back to front. Only seems to roll over when he wants to get something, hasn't rolled over in his bed at night (thankful for that haha). Wears size 4 diapers and 9-12 months clothes (can wear 6-12 from Gap).

He has found his toes and loves to grab his feet. Loves playing in his exersaucer and all of his toys go straight into his mouth. Loves for us to read to him and grabs at the pictures. Just a happy go lucky lil man. He will cry now if I leave the room or he can't see me. Bless his heart. He is a sensitive soul and loves being with people.

Siblings:
Hayes loves his big sisters and they just adore him...and fight over him haha. They both always want to sit next to him or hold him or play with him. They also each get annoyed if he smiles more at one of them (Gracen can get him to smile just by looking at him which annoys biggest sis to no end lol). They really are the best big sisters and so loving and caring. He is going to be so spoiled I think ;)

Sibling stats:
Hayes is still the biggest :)

Gracens's:
Height: 26.25 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 19 lbs (100th percentile)

Leighton's:
Height: 25.5 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs (75t percentile)

And a picture of the Hayes man to compare...

Month five with Hayes in one word...rested :) It's been all about the sleep this month. Love him so!
