The New Spring Break

Remember the days when spring break meant sun, sand, dancing and tropical drinks?!! Haha, not anymore. Now spring break means picnics, parks, zoo trips and playing. We are just finishing up Leighton's first official spring break and it sure was a fun one.

We started with a trip to the zoo with my sister, Kylee. It was a beautiful day and Leighton had the best time looking at all the animals. Especially the giraffes! She kept screaming out, "I Love my ZOO & I love my giraffes!" She had a smile all day long. It is so fun to be a parent and see your child enjoy something.

Little sister was amazing all day long. She rode in her stroller and soaked in the scenery, took a short nap after we ate lunch and enjoyed a bottle. She was the most laid back easy going little thing and such a joy to have along.

Leighton acted like such a big girl all day long. She made friends wherever we went and played and played and played on the playground. I was worried about letting her wear big girl panties all day but she wanted to so I decided to go with it. She did such a great job all day telling me when she had to go potty and we didn't even come close to any accidents all day. Dare I say we are officially potty trained?!!

The zoo was a great way to kickoff spring break. I am happy I decided to get a zoo membership so we can go back as much as we want. Leighton has already started talking about taking Daddy back to see her giraffes and snakes. We all had a great time.

We've been lucky the weather has cooperated and we have been able to spend a lot of time outside this break. We had a picnic at the park where I almost had a heart attack because of the giant kids being so rough around my princess (she could have cared less and loved making friends) and we've done some shopping too. Leighton has a new obsession with butterflies so we've had to pick up some butterfly gear at every stop we make.

Daddy did her makeup one morning before he went to work. "I look pretty Mommy, see??"

Baby sister has loved having Leighton home in the morning. She thought it was quite funny to try and squish her after breakfast :)

At the park Leighton tries to do everything and it makes me a nervous wreck. I must have been acting a tad crazy because a Dad at the park told me I was going to have to let her, "live a little" haha. I was a little more relaxed when we went to the park next to our house. The big kids were much gentler with the little ones. I may have still almost had a heart attack though when Leighton INSISTED on going down the giant slide alone and climbing the huge ladder. Such a big girl.

Little sister also got her first bruise over spring break :( She was trying to play Daddy's guitar when it bopped her on the cheek. She barely cried but it left a mark and made me so sad. I'm sure it won't be the last bruise this tough little girl gets. The child is into everything!

We made cupcakes this week and I caught my little sweet queen sneaking one before dinner. When I found her she said, "Mama, just one little bite, okay?" I went ahead and let her eat the whole thing...such a sucker for cuteness :)

We also made a day trip to Lexington to eat lunch with Gaga (Grammy) and check out the reception site for the wedding next weekend! The girls loved running around outside. Leighton took a seat on "da porch" and kept asking where "Chessy" was. Six days and counting...we can't wait!

I have to admit I am kind of loved this new spring break. No one knows how to have good time quite like my girls :)
