18 months of love!

Little late on this post but hey, better late than never ;) Our sweet baby girl is growing up TOO fast. She is fun, loving, feisty, smart, independent and much, much, more!

Gracen's Measurements at 18 months:
Weight: 28 lbs (88th percentile)
Length: 33 inches (90th percentile)
Head: 46.5 cm (55th percentile)

18 things about Gracen girl at 18 months...

1. She loves to watch Caillou and has abandoned her love for Barney! She brings me the remote and says "Cai!" She would watch it all day if we would let her but we limit it to about 2 shows a day.

2. She is not a picky eater and will try almost anything. Her favorite foods are cinnamon rolls, grapes, blueberries, yogurt, string cheese, mac n' cheese, chicken nuggets and green beans. Only drinks milk or water (just like big sis).

3. Her favorite words are "Mama" , "Dada" , "Lyla" , "Ball" , "Mo Mik" (more milk) , "Ovah" (over) , "Down" , "Poppy" , "Dank q" (thank you) , "HI" , "Bye" and "Nigh-Nigh" (night night). It feels like she doesn't use many words but Leighton was a late talker and now never, ever, EVER stops talking. Her doctor said she is right on target so I'm not worried. She does talk nonstop in her own language. She will come up and say a whole sentence in gibberish :) Just waiting for her to wake up one morning and speak perfectly clear sentences lol.

4. Still rear-facing in the car and is a great rider. Such an easy little travel buddy. May turn her around for our beach trip in June so she can see the DVD player. Otherwise would like to keep her rear facing until 2.

5. Loves bath time and splashing Big Sis. Has no fear of the water and will dunk her face or let Leighton pour water over her head. She just giggles and laughs and will stay in until I make her get out or all the water is gone.

6. Super independent and does not get easily frustrated. She will play with blocks, Mr. Potato Head, her dollhouse and other toys by herself happily. She is really coordinated and can easily work toys and get pieces to fit. Sometimes we laugh because toys that Gracen plays with are ones that frustrate Leighton and she still has trouble with. So amazing how different they are.

7. Great sleeper but hates the words "nap" or "bedtime." Will take off full speed running away and crying if you say either haha. Once you get her in bed she rarely cries and will usually just babble until she falls asleep. Has a favorite blanket and lullaby monkey (sleeps with lullaby seahorse some nights too). Goes to bed around 8:30 pm and sleeps until 9 am. Takes one afternoon nap between 1-2 hours.

8. Could care LESS about time out or getting in trouble. Will sit in time out and giggle and smile.

9. Loves to color at her art desk. Sometimes will color on the walls because they are just too tempting lol.

10. Is seriously ALWAYS smiling. She smiles all day long! Even if she is getting in trouble she will smile and laugh. Totally rotten ;)

11. Loves to read books and look at pictures. Two favorite books are Baby Einstein's
"First Words" and Bright Baby's "First 100 Words." Loves to play Elmo's ABC's on the iPad and look at the ABC flashcard app on my iphone.

12. Total wild woman & is always on the GO! Will climb anything and loves to jump off her chair (which is a no-no). Loves to practice somersaults and run up and down our foyer hallway. She wears me out just watching her. She's starting gymnastics next week (wish me luck haha).

13. Rubs her belly button when she is tired or relaxing. Gets annoyed if she has something on that blocks it. Hoping she grows out of this :)

14. I recently decided not to start her in preschool until she is 3 (unlike Leighton who started at 2). I really LOVE our preschool but just saw a huge difference in how much Leighton has flourished this year versus last. Most of Leighton's early frustration was due to her lack of verbal skills. Since Gracen seems to be a late talker I just decided to work with her at home and send her at 3. Hoping I am making the right decision!

15. Has shown some interest in the potty so I went ahead and pulled out the old potty chairs. For now, she just likes to sit on them and feel like a big girl. She did have a random moment (by pure luck) where she went #2 in the big potty. She has no fear of using the potty but I just don't think she has enough verbal skills to start really training. Summer project I suppose.

16. Loves to shut all the doors in the house and loves to shut herself in the pantry or closet and just sit in the dark (wild child). She loves to play hide and seek with her Daddy and just squeals with glee when she is found :)

17. Walks up the stairs holding on to the wall. She thinks she is too big to crawl up them. Such a big girl.

18. Wants to do any and EVERY thing that Leighton does. Wants to have the same lunch, snack, toys, books, barbies, babies, towel, soap, you name it! I think this is a second child thing but it is SO funny. If Leighton itches her head, little Gracen will too. Not kidding!

How she stacks up against Big Sis (her idol):

Leighton's measurements at 18 months:
Weight: 24 lbs (50th percentile)
Length: 32.5 inches (75th percentile)
Head: 46.5 cm (55th percentile)

Both girls have started to really play with each other and I LOVE having two so much. Everyone talks about how much work having two is in the beginning (and it IS) but all that work is paying off so much right now to see them love on each other and play so well. I genuinely love both ages my girls are at and I love having two so so much. I think eventually we want to have another baby (God willing) but I have to admit I am scared of having three and having two just feels so right! Guess time will tell but for now I am enjoying every second with my two chicks :)
