Hayes Robert...One Month Old

Hayes is officially a month old. Man time is flying. This sweet little boy has been such a blessing to our family. He fits right in with our crazy girls and it feels like he's always been here :) We call him our baby finale because we are just about 99% sure he is our last baby. Although I know to never say never but I must say he makes our family feel pretty complete. And since I always thought I would have 4 kids and didn't think I would have a boy, having three and a little boy feels like God's way of telling me I am not in charge of this :)

We had his one month appointment and it is official, we grow em' big around here! And not that we needed a doctor to tell us but he's darn near perfect :)

Measurements:
Height: 23.5 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 11 lbs 7oz (90th percentile)
Head: 39cm (75th percentile)

Eating:
I am exclusively breastfeeding and he's eating every two hours around the clock. I noticed when I would have a Coke that he would get really fussy so I've cut out all carbonated drinks for now (not that I need the extra calories but I am missing my daily coke break). He's a good little eater which is pretty obvious with the 3.5lb weight gain this month haha. My babies always have loved eating :)

I do wish I could get him to go a longer stretch at night between feedings and my doctor did suggest maybe giving him a formula bottle at bedtime. He actually has had a couple of formula bottles when I've been away (I don't have a big supply built up yet) and he has done fine with it. I'd like to get him to three months before giving him the formula at night but we will just see how the next month goes. With school starting and our schedules about to get crazy this Mama would like some sleep at night...

Sleeping
Out of all three babes he seems to sleep the least. His naps vary from 30 mins to an hour during the day and at night he is up every two hours for a snack ;) BUT with that said, he is also the most laid back of the three. Just because he is not sleeping doesn't mean he is crying. Even at night, he doesn't cry just doesn't seem to go back to sleep as easily after his snacks lol.

He wakes up every morning around 5-6am and sometimes won't fall back asleep for an hour or so. I've started a few mornings at 5 am because there isn't time to get a nap in before I need to be up for the day. He wakes for the morning around 8am and will usually stay up until 10-11 am. He is SO alert and loves to look around and watch the girls. Maybe he can get some better naps in when they're both at school ;) He pretty much follows a schedule of eat, stay awake for an hour or longer and then take a nap. I have started a nightly bedtime routine of eat, stay awake for an hour, take a bath and then eat before bed. He usually lays down around 7 and will sleep until 10 (his longest stretch of each day haha).

Personality
He is my laid back little guy. He doesn't need to be rocked or bounced to sleep (like both girls insisted on...) and is usually completely content being held or cuddled. He loves to face outward when you hold him in your lap so he can look around. He only gets mad (loud cry) when he is hungry, has a dirty diaper or has a belly ache. He was out on the town with us all day long for Gracen's special day and never fussed at all. My Mom did watch him for the day while Toby and I went to the PGA and I think he was a little grumpier than usual for her. So maybe he is just ultra laid back for his Mama :) Fine by me!

He is a super noisy baby. He squeaks, moans, grunts, coos and everything in between. He is LOUD. The doctor suggested he sleep in his own room so all his noises wouldn't disturb us but no way in heck am I ready for that yet. This baby finale may be sleeping in my room for the first year ;)

Details
He is so observant and serious. He has the biggest blue eyes and always looks like he is deep in thought or confused haha. He is our little thinker. His favorite things to watch are his sisters and lights. He wears 3 months in clothes and we are in size 1 diapers (but I think those are almost too small). He likes to be swaddled with his arms out and LOVES white noise. I have a portable white noise machine that straps to his car seat and he loves the womb sound on the sound sleeper app on my phone. He loves the rock n' play and we actually have one for upstairs and downstairs. He will sometimes take a pacifier but is starting to decide it's not really for him lol. I love holding him and cuddling and we all just think everything he does is so precious and adorable. Sweet little guy has quite a fan club at our house ;)

Siblings
Oh my these girls LOVE this boy. They are constantly talking to him, asking to hold him, kissing him and they love to help me. We call Gracen the diaper head because she is in charge of throwing out all of the diapers (and she loves having a job!). Leighton is so good about talking to him when he's upset and she can calm him down. She would truly hold him all day long and is just so sweet to him.

Sibling stats
So far Hayes is the tallest of the three :) I totally didn't think it was possible to have a taller baby than Gray but he beat her by 1/4 of an inch. He is an ounce smaller than she was but since she actually had her one month appt at 5 weeks I think he is actually bigger weight wise too! Our big ole baby boy :) Maybe a basketball player in the making? Go Cats!

Here are Leighton's one month measurements:
Height: 22.25 inches (80th percentile)
Weight: 10lbs 2oz (90th percentile)

And Gracen's:
Height: 23.25 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 11lbs 8oz (97th percentile)

And a pic of the Hayes man to compare...

If I had to sum up month one with our Hayes man in one word it would be BLISS. My heart just melts for this baby!
