Hayes Robert…Two months old

This little guy fits right into our little family. Two months in and it feels like he's always been here with us. Still getting used to having all the blue around and teeny tiny gym clothes hehe. Hayes is just the sweetest boy and I can't imagine life without this little man in it. Smitten I tell ya...just smitten ;)

We headed to the doctor and found out more of what we already knew...he's a BIG boy. Really big actually! And pretty darn adorable :)

Measurements:
Height: 23.75 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs 1 oz (97th percentile)
Head: 40 cm (50th percentile)

Eating:
This boy hates to miss a meal! He eats every two hours during the day and between 3-4 hours at night. Still exclusively nursing and it's smooth sailing. He will take a bottle like a pro (a first for a blondie baby! whoohoo!) and we give him at least one a day. He even will let ME feed him a bottle. Easy going baby, easy going eater, easy going all around. We are spoiled!!!

He ends up taking about 4 ounces every two hours and when I pump I usually get 5-6 ounces so I have built up a nice little milk stash. He doesn't seem too picky about his meals as long as they come like clockwork. If he naps through a feeding or goes longer than 2.5 hours max he wakes up screaming. Totally acts like he is starving...but I think we can all tell that he's not haha.

Sleeping
Well he's not really a great sleeper but he's not terrible either. He doesn't ever cry in the night just whimpers and squeaks enough for me to wake up and give him a snack before he dozes right back off to dreamland. He ends up waking up every 3-4 hours but I can't really complain because he is really the easiest baby to tend to. Sometimes he just wants a cuddle and will fall back asleep.

He wakes for the day between 7-7:30 am and gets a quick snack in before I get ready for the day. We are all out the door every morning by 8:30am for carpool. We drop of Leighton and then Gracen and are usually in the car between 45 mins to an hour. He gets his morning nap in the car and if I need to run errands he will sleep until about 10 am. He is such a good car rider. As long as he isn't hungry he will just sleep. It's amazing! And very different from my girlies :)

Once he wakes from his morning nap, he likes to eat again and then will stay awake for about an hour before falling back asleep. He insists on taking all daytime naps in his swing or my arms :) We walk to the bus stop at 4pm everyday to meet Leighton and he stays awake from then until his bedtime around 7:30 pm.

I say bedtime but it's not like he actually goes to sleep in a bed haha. After his bath I take him downstairs with me and rock him to sleep. Then I lay him in the swing or just cuddle with him while I watch tv with Toby or wait for Toby to get home from work when he works late. When I'm ready to go to bed I take him upstairs with me & he sleeps in his rock n play until he's ready to wake up and eat. Sometimes he sleeps for a couple of hours and sometimes just a few minutes before waking up ;)

Personality
He is a laid back little man and compared to the girls we think he is the easiest baby that ever lived hahaha! He really only cries if he is hungry, has the hiccups, a dirty diaper or is tired. We can pretty much take him anywhere and we do! Doctors appointments, speech therapy for G, soccer practice, dance lessons, soccer games, the park, out to eat...that's our life in a WEEK haha. He is our baby on the go.

He is SO smiley. It started around 6 weeks and has just gotten better and better everyday. He LOVES watching Gracen and she can make him smile the easiest. I tried so hard to get him to smile during this photo shoot but he just kept giving me his blue steel stare ;) He coos and squeals and talks to us all day. Lately he's been sucking on his hand all the time and I think it's just a matter of time before he finds his thumb. He refuses to take a pacifier but loves sucking on his hand so we will just see what happens I guess.

Details
He is such an easy baby. I feel like I am a broken record with saying that. I'm not bragging haha, I mean let me tell you...I do NOT usually have easy babies. I am used to having to walk around, bounce, shush, rock like crazy and pull every trick out of the book for my babies. Gracen screamed every night for two hours until she was 4 months old. Leighton refused to take a bottle until she was 9 months. Both girls HATED their carseats and screamed every time we went somewhere when they were this age.

Compared to that, our Hayes man has made life SO easy on us. He loves sound machines. If he's super upset (which like never happens) we can rock him with the "womb" sound on our phone and he will hush. Same with the hairdryer. If he's upset and I have to get something done I can lay him down and run the hair dryer and he calms down long enough for me to finish what I need to do (usually get ready in the morning haha). He's just a happy guy. Of course happiest in mine or Daddy's arms :)

Siblings
The girls are still crazy for this baby. Leighton runs straight for him when she gets off the bus each afternoon. Gracen loves to make him smile and is so gentle with him. They both love to baby him but Leighton is definitely more motherly and Gracen is more friendly with him. He is so lucky to have the best big sisters ever.

Sibling stats
Hayes in still in the lead as the biggest of the three babes. 15 lbs! I can't believe he is that big haha. He beat both girls by 1.5 lbs and 3/4 of an inch. Big Bubba!

So he's the quietest, smiliest, most laid back and biggest of the three haha. Must be a boy thing!

Here are Leighton's one month measurements:
Height: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 13lbs 4oz (90th percentile)

And Gracen's:
Height: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 13lbs 8oz (90th percentile)

And the pic of our Bubba to compare...

If I had to sum up month one with our Hayes man in one word it would be SMILES. My heart just smiles for this baby!

  1. So I just looked up how much Henry weighted at 2 months and couldn't find the number, so I looked up how much he weighed at a year. 18 pounds! Hayes almost weight as much as Henry when he was a year old! My baby was tiny...
