Measurements:
Height: 27 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 19 lbs 14.5 oz (97th percentile)
Head: 45.5 cm (90th percentile)
Eating:
Still nursing exclusively but now that we've started solids he has slowed down his nursing schedule quite a bit. He likes to nurse first thing in the morning and again after his morning nap, after his afternoon nap and sometimes one more "snack" before dinner. He gets a 7 oz pumped bottle at bedtime.
We started solids last month and he loves eating. He gets a jar of babyfood at breakfast, lunch & dinner. He always gets a fruit mixed with oatmeal for breakfast and this is by far his favorite meal of the day, especially if it's mixed with bananas. He LOVES bananas. Lunch is usually a fruit/veggie combo (Beechnut all naturals has some interesting combos...) and dinner is another jar of a veggie combo usually. We have been using the Earth's Best Organic and the Beechnut All Natural brands. We mashed up an avocado and he loved it until the last bite where he started gagging haha. The only thing he doesn't like are green beans alone. He loves the green bean & sweet corn combo. His favorite veggie is carrots.
He squeals and gets so excited when he sees his nighttime bottle or any of his food. Toby was holding him in the kitchen and he got a glimpse of his bottle in the fridge and he started going crazy. It was hilarious. The guy lives to eat!
Sleeping:
Still sleeping through the night wahoo! Loving this aspect of having an older baby ;) Takes on average two naps a day. He will sleep for a good 1-1.5 hour for each if he is able to sleep in his crib (sound machine, fave blanket, blackout shades haha). Usually our schedule only allows for a morning crib nap (except on Sundays when we are at church...good thing he is so go with the flow). The afternoon nap he usually catches in the car or in his stroller when we are out running errands. He will sometimes also take another catnap before dinner in his swing or in my arms.
He loves his crib. He sleeps with a sound machine and humidifier going and I swear it calms him. At night he gets a bath (usually from Daddy unless he's working late), his nighttime bottle (7 oz of breastmilk) and then we just lay him in his crib, turn on the sound machine and leave the room. Sometimes he whimpers for a few minutes but most nights he puts his arms behind his head and just falls asleep. Such an easy guy.
He still sleeps in lightweight PJs and in a sleep sack (my Dad always says he's the only guy he knows who sleeps in a sack haha). Lately, I've also been letting him sleep with a blanket in his crib, a lightweight Aden & Anais muslin blanket. Hayes loves holding it and I think he likes having something familiar in his crib with him. Most night he sleeps from 7pm-7am. The past week he has been teething though and likes to get in bed with me between 3-5am for some cuddling. We usually get up for the day about 7:30 am.
Personality:
Happy, happy, happy! That describes our man in a nutshell. He is ALWAYS smiling, squealing or babbling. He has started saying "bababababa, dadadadadada" and his little voice is SO sweet. He is such a vocal baby. He loves playing in his exersaucer and can entertain himself in there for a good 30 minutes or more.
He loves to sit in your lap and listen to books and is so observant. He is also so grabby (is that even a word...). He grabs everything and he is strong. Watch out if he gets a hold of your hair or face...it hurts!!!
Details:
He is a Mama's boy most times. He will cry if I leave the room and he can't see me or if I am in the room and am not holding him. Toby gives him his bath every night (their male bonding time haha) and Hayes loves splashing in the water. Toby just lets him sit up in the water now (bye bye baby seat...) and he loves it. He goes crazy with the splashing. Waterbug.
He has FOUR teeth. Three on the bottom and one on top (it's about halfway through now). That is definitely a different order than the girls' came in haha. He looks so hilarious. Teething has made him a tad grumpy especially at bedtime and he has woken up more in the night the past week. Hoping once the top one is all the way through he will get some relief. Poor Hayeser. His cheeks get so red at night but the doctor said it's totally normal especially if he's teething.
He can sit up and roll over (nothing new). He can also now go from sitting to his belly and get into a crawling type position. He will try and wiggle his way to something he wants but he doesn't usually get anywhere haha. It's fun to watch lol. He loves playing with all of his new toys from Christmas. He really loves his VTech Learning Walker. The activity toy comes off the walker and he will sit and play with it for a while. He also loves his sensory balls and Haba teething beads. Even with all the toys around I'd have to say his favorite thing to play with are his wipes. Yep, a bag of wipes. Haha.
There are not too many moments in the day when Hayes isn't smiling. He is just such a happy baby and so laid back. We are all pretty much obsessed with him. He may be a tad spoiled ;)
Siblings:
The girls are totally still smitten with their baby Hayes. They both come to greet him every morning and love playing with him and making him smile. There may be some competition between them about who is his favorite. He loves his big sisters so much and they love him. It's really quite adorable.
Sibling Stats:
Well Gracen beat him in weight this month, but just barely haha. Hayes is still holding strong to the tallest baby award :) And his head won by a landslide...big lovable guy... Here are the girls' measurements to compare. I never have made a small baby ;)
Gracen's 6 month measurements:
Height: 26.75 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 20 pounds (97th percentile)
Head: 42.75 cm (65th percentile)
Leighton's 6 month measurements:
Height: 26 inches (55th percentile)
Weight: 18 pounds (85th percentile)
And a picture of Hayes to compare....
Month 6 with our guy in one word...happy. He's such a happy guy and it is pretty much impossible not to be happy when you're with him. Love him so.
