We have been busy just living life these past few days. We haven't had much on our schedule but cleaning, playing and watching the "Iggles" :) Sometimes those are the best days.
Our friend, Scottie, stopped by last weekend with a special delivery from Lexington...our baby furniture! To say I am relieved to finally have the furniture in.my.house is an understatement. To have the furniture (minus the chair) actually in the nursery is too exciting for words :) He also brought Leighton a flower...her first flower from a boy. I had to capture this with a picture. If you can't tell she loved it!
We've all had a lot of fun watching the mama Robin who built a nest on our porch. The babies hatched this week and it is so neat to watch her take care of them. My older sister's name is Robyn so we have named the mama "Aunt Robyn" lol. We think the babies are about 4 days old now and we know they usually only stay in the nest two weeks. That means only about 10 more days until they fly away :(
Toby has worked several early shifts this week which means we have been doing a lot of porch sitting waiting for him to pull in the driveway :) Early shifts also mean family dinners, walks, yardwork and just good old fashion quality time. I LOVE early shifts!
With all these family dinners, I've needed some help in the kitchen. Leighton has been happy to help. "I cooo, I cooo" she says and brings me her apron. I love her help :)
She's also recently decided that playing independently IS fun after all. It is so nice to be able to do the dishes, vacuum, fix dinner, etc. and know that she is entertaining herself. Just when I thought the "terrible" two's were going to be a disaster she goes and proves me wrong. I'll take a temper tantrum now and then for some independent play. I'll even clean up the mess without complaining :)
We've also made a lot of progress on the nursery. The crib is up with the bedding and the dresser & closet are both LOADED with clothes. We are waiting on the fancy chair and artwork I ordered but both should be here in the next couple of weeks. We still need a mobile, something for over the crib, area rug, lamp and throw pillows BUT she has a place to sleep!!!
So far, our week full of "nothing" has been pretty special and the good news is it's only Wednesday. Hope yours has been the same!
Please do not comment on the length of my child's bangs. No, she has never had a haircut and NO, I am not planning one anytime soon. We are growing out her bangs and it is her week of doing "nothing" too so if she doesn't want to wear a "clippie" she doesn't have too :)
