Leighton's Last Day of Kindergarten

Well, that year flew by...for real!  I can't believe the next time I drop my baby off in carpool she will be marching into school as a FIRST GRADER.  We have been SO happy with her first year of elementary school.  She has thrived at her school and has learned so much.  And she looks so much older than that sweet little baby face I dropped off over 9 months ago.

My favorite thing about this year...the reading!  She is a true bookworm and so eager to learn!  When she's not outside playing she's inside curled up with a book.  She has started beginner chapter books and loves writing stories or letters to people in her journal.  It makes me so happy.  She's always looking for someone/anyone to read to!

I totally started crying when I dropped her off in carpool for the last time and she looked at me like I was crazy.  She gave me a big hug and said..."What in the world are you doing???!" And then she hopped out and ran off.

This beautiful little girl of mine, so full of life and love to give.  I am constantly amazed that she is mine.  I worried all last summer about sending her to Kindergarten.  She has a summer birthday so I worried that she wouldn't be ready.  That she wouldn't be outgoing enough or would get lost in a huge class of kids.  But, she has truly excelled and shot down any worry I had.  And we could not be prouder.  More proof that this life thing is in God's hands and not mine :)

My little Leighton Layne.  A First grader now!  I am excited for what her school experience has in store but for now I am soaking up having her home all summer!  Love my baby girl!
