Fall Festival Fun & Gracen the DIVA

Friday was the Fall Festival at Leighton's school and even though the girls had been out of control all day long I was excited to take them to do something fun. Before we left, Gracen started to get in one of her baby diva moods. I started to worry a little about how this was going to go but decided to just go with it. Sometimes as a mama you have to suck it up and roll :)

See, she wasn't amused. She would much rather be in a onesie swaddled tight and being rocked in her mama's arms. BUT, she didn't have a choice so off to the festival we went!

I have to say I was quite shocked when we pulled up to the school and there were no festivities going on :( But, Toby pointed out the festival was INSIDE and that there were tons of people there already. I am new to this preschool festival stuff. If you label things with the word "fall" I tend to assume they will be outdoors! Anyway, we loaded up Gracen in her stroller and she immediately started screaming, SO, we decided to ditch the stroller and just carry her.

Once we got inside Leighton immediately turned into her shy and innocent self. She saw one of her teachers, Ms. Katy, and gave her a little smile but that was about it! It's funny how she is so crazy at home and once we take her somewhere public she turns into this quiet, timid little girl. She may have them fooled, but we know the truth :)

We went to her classroom first to look around and visit her other teacher, Ms. Trish. Again, she put on her shy front but did manage another little smile.

She timidly played "pin the nose on the pumpkin" and ran to the toys to get the babydoll. Toby and I were NOT surprised to see her picture hanging on the wall had the babydoll in it too. I'm telling you she is obsessed!

The baby diva Gracen fussed the whole time we were in her classroom and then some. I decided she was probably hungry and took her to the car to nurse. It's times like these that breastfeeding can be really alienating. She's in the middle of her six week growth spurt and had upped her eating from every two hours to about every hour and a half so I basically felt like I was nursing around.the.clock. A short feed later and we headed back in. Toby and Leighton had made a treat bag and were playing another game, "pumpkin pond."

Again, she was Miss Shy :) She picked out a treat and we headed downstairs for more games and pizza. We took her to play "Treat Walk" and she was so cute.

Basically, there are pumpkin markers on the floor in a circle and you walk around the circle until the music stops and if you land on the marker they call you win a prize.

She loved this game and took it very seriously!

Next we headed to the gym for some pizza but Little Miss Leighton decided to have a sucker first. I told her the only way she could have a sucker was if she smiled pretty for a picture. This is what I got...

Everyone in line around us was laughing. She is spoiled rotten :)

Meanwhile, I passed off The baby diva Gracen to Daddy where she FINALLY fell asleep. We laughed because man she really is high maintenance sometimes. We kept looking around and seeing all these babies hanging in slings or strollers and gave her a little talk about trying to be like the other babies :)

After dinner, I took Leighton to get a tattoo (only time you will ever hear this phrase from me...guaranteed!). She chose a spooky ghost and kept showing it to all the people Dads around us (she loves men).

Toby and I we were "festivaled" out (pretty sure Toby's arms were close to falling off from holding The baby diva Gracen) but we decided to take Leighton to get a pink stripe in her hair before we hit the road.

She told us on the way home that the pink hair was her favorite part of the festival :) I guess it's a good thing we squeezed it in.

On the way home I stopped to get a salad from a restaurant and Toby stayed in the car with a screaming baby diva Gracen and Leighton went inside with me. She climbed up on the barstool, grabbed a menu and told the waiter, "Fren fries and water pease..." It was pretty adorable.

The baby diva Gracen screamed the whole time we were inside and the entire ride home. By the time we walked in the door we were ALL exhausted. I felt like the night was a pretty good example of how life with two is completely exhausting, zoo-like and FUN all at the same time :)
