Labor Day Weekend

The weather decided to go from 100 degrees on Saturday to freezing & rainy on Sunday and Monday. Crazy Kentucky weather, couldn't it let us down gently?! I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to summer :(

Weather issues aside, the girls and I headed to Lexington for the weekend without Daddy (he was working, "booooo" as Leighton would say). I always hate leaving Toby behind but it was nice to have a few extra hands around all weekend to help me with the girls. The rain ruined our plans to stay poolside so it was a good thing some special people (pun intended) were in town to keep us entertained...

My cousin Chelsi or "Auntie Sis" and her fiance, Bobby, came all the way from the Washington DC area to visit good ole' Kantuckee. We were so happy to have them around all weekend plus it was itty bitty's first time meeting them. It was love at first sight.

It's so funny to hear them talk about what their kids will be like someday. They swear they will come out with (their words), "a monacle, jagged teeth and will already have a menacing vocabulary. And a beard." Told you they were "special" :) I was happy to let them love on my girls and get in some practice :)

They're getting married in April 2012 so I'm crossing my fingers thinking 2013 may be their year...OR 2015 if they want to wait for us to possibly be ready again?!!

Here are their darling flower girls practicing for the big day. Can you say ab-so-lute-ly precious?

They also decided to pick out jewelry for the big day. They went with the costume look :)

Leighton loves spending time with her cousins. It's one reason I have always thought we would move back to Lexington. I would love for my girls to live in the same city as their cousins like I did growing up (not to mention my parents) but the more we live here in Louisville the more it feels like home and the more I like the idea of sticking around. SOoo, who knows what will happen. For now, I love it when they get to spend time together. They are truly the best of friends!

We attempted to get a cousin picture since it's rare we are all together but it didn't work out so well. Here was my version of the picture (minus my older sister Robyn and cousin Chase). Obviously my girls weren't in the mood :)

The girls were much happier cuddling with my Dad. Leighton is quite the fan of her "Pop-pop." She walks around the house talking to him on her toy cellphone and loves to tell us about how they ate on the picnic tables at Sonic, lol.

Besides the awesome QT with family, the highlight of the weekend was the delicious food I stuffed myself with. Guess I'm not too worried about getting these last 10 lbs off (actually I am but the food was just THAT good and I couldn't pass it up). It was compliments of my Uncle Scott, the grill man (Seriously if you're in the market for a new grill you should really look into a Holland...life changer...that is all).

Leaving was bittersweet, I hate saying goodbye to family but we were really excited to get back home to our favorite Daddy. Trips, even short ones, just aren't the same without him. I'm thinking he probably enjoyed getting home from work and having some peace and quiet for a couple of days. There's not much of that around here these days :) I can't imagine why though...it's not like Leighton is wild or anything!

NEVER, not this sweet face! She's perfect and that's the truth :)

  1. Sis :) I love you and your babies and our fam(and this post) oh so much! I can not wait to move back to Louisville (so... maybe you all WILL stay?) and have our kids get to grow up together. We just need Robyn and Chris to move out to tha ville. Oh, and our parents and grandparents too :) We had so much fun and I am so so so in love with Gracen. Even though our child will be heinous, I know you and probably your mom will still love him/her. Jagged teeth, beard and all. I love you.
