Last night we took Leighton to Bellarmine for their annual Hall O' Treats. Basically, kids go door to door in the dorms and trick or treat for candy and they also have some games and activities going on. It's a fun way to kick off Halloween and a great "practice session" for the real trick or treat :) My little sister, Kylee, attends BU and helped host the festivities this year (she is a RA) so we were extra excited to join in on the fun!
I was a little nervous to bring Gracen along because she gets really fussy in the evening but decided to pack up the Moby wrap and go with it. I can't be afraid to try things because I am afraid of how they may turn out (she may scream and people may stare, lol). We fed her a bottle right before we left in hopes she would fall asleep on the way...no such luck ;) BUT, I am happy to report she did pretty great and I am SO glad I took her along. I love taking Leighton to do fun things and never want to miss out!
I thought a week before Halloween was a tad too early to break out Leighton's "real" costume so I threw together a special one just for Hall O' Treats. It turned out pretty adorable but I think the adorable girl wearing it had something to do with the adorableness :) Of course Gracen looked adorable too in her skeleton sleeper!
We had to ride a bus from the parking lot to the dorms so that was an exciting adventure in itself for Leighton. I love how serious and inquisitive she gets when she is doing something new. She becomes so timid, it just melts my heart into a million pieces.
Miss Gracen was getting settled into her Moby wrap and loved looking around at all the people on the bus. She is growing up so quick, I can't believe she's already 11 weeks!
First we stopped in the courtyard to get a cookie and Daddy wanted some popcorn (of course he did! the man LOVES popcorn).
Then we found Aunt Kylee and she took us inside to do the treating! All the floors of the dorm were decorated so cute!
As with anything new, Leighton was very cautious at first. I never heard her say "trick or treat" above a whisper the whole night but she did get the hang of walking up to the rooms and taking the candy lol. The girl has a special place in her heart for candy.
The cuteness of the tail! I DIE!
We sat down to color a Halloween picture but she was ready after just a few minutes to get back to the real task at hand...MO CANDEEE!
Just for fun, here's a picture of us all coloring a picture at last year's Hall O' Treats. From baby to little girl and a new baby, all in 12 little months :)
The balloon animals were a huge hit. All the little girls in line were choosing the pink doggies. I am sad to report our sweet little pink puppy didn't last 12 hours. This little kitty couldn't wait to pop it. The war between cats and dogs is alive and well :)
Gracen was tired of missing out on the fun. She wanted to see what she looked like as a Wizard ;) Leighton wanted NO part of this fun hehe.
Before we headed out we got Leighton a smore that she refused to try. No amount of coaxing could convince her. I think it had something to do with the fire. She is a stubborn little cat! Gracen finally fell asleep on the shuttle back to the car (also a stubborn one) but Leighton stayed awake until we got home. She ate a big bowl of oatmeal and went to bed extra tired. She was a little tired when I woke her up for school this morning (and not to mention grumpy) but I think all the fun she had was worth it! Only 2 more days until her next Halloween celebration at school! Sooo excited to see her with all of her cute little friends.
Maybe I will consider myself a fall person after all. Halloween sure is great :)
I love love love Lei's costume! Wish Auntie Sis could have been there with the Daniels and KBJ! Love you all so much!
