Gracen's two month check up went great and she is perfect and healthy. We still have a big baby on our hands but not as big as last time :)
Measurements:
Height: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 13lbs 8oz (90th percentile)
Head: 38.5cm (50th percentile)
Eating:
Gracen is still exclusively nursing and still eating on-demand. During the day it evens out to about 2.5 hours and about 3.5 at night. Starting to pump and feed more in an effort to get her to LOVE the bottle and not refuse it like big sis Leighton. She is definitely not a huge fan of it but gets better with every bottle she has. I am going to start giving her at least one bottle every single day and maybe more. My doctor suggested we try to "thicken" her feeds with rice cereal to help with some minor reflux issues and to help with her sleeping patterns. We are going to start feeding 2 tablespoons of cereal mixed with breast milk 2-3 times a day and see what happens.
Sleeping
I am not a big schedule person and actually find that they complicate more than they help but with that said I have been trying to keep somewhat of a routine with Gracen. ALL in an effort to get her sleeping better at night. I have been keeping with the routine of feed, play and nap during the day and have a solid bedtime routine of bath, swaddle, nurse and bed. I usually put her to bed around 8:30 pm and feed her again at midnight (a dreamfeed usually) and she sleeps until 3 or 4 (once even 4:30 BUT that was once, lol).
She starts every night in her rock n'play sleeper but ends up in our bed after the 3-4 am feeding, mostly because she wakes every two hours to nurse after that feeding. Lately, she has been ready to wake up for the day around 7:30 or 8:00. I have noticed that the bedtime routine has helped her sleep better through that first stretch. I'm hoping to see a difference in her daytime sleep once we get her full from her feedings for a longer period of time. Big babies like to eat a lot :)
Temperament
She is still feisty with a capital F and has a temper I've never seen in a tiny baby :) Oh my. Her cry goes from a whimper to a full out WAIL in 5 seconds flat and is honestly the loudest cry I've ever heard from a human being. She has a nightly fussy period that starts around 7:00 pm like clockwork and is finished by 9:00 pm.
She likes to be rocked, propped up or walked around during this time. I have noticed the fussy period to be getting shorter these last few days and am hoping they are gone totally by 3 months (fingers crossed). Other than her fussy moments she is such a sweet baby.
Details
She has the cutest little voice. She coos and babbles and makes all sorts of cute noises. We talk to her all the time and sometimes she will answer back. It is adorable. She has started to enjoy laying on a blanket in the morning and looking around. She loves her toy zebra and our ceiling fan, she will watch them forever. She has the bluest eyes, almost like an aqua and her eyelashes are growing so long.
She still has a head full of hair but it is definitely falling out some, especially on the sides and it's getting lighter everyday and sometimes has an auburn tone to it. I'm pretty sure she is going to have a mowhawk soon :) She thinks Leighton is the best and will smile at her and watch every move she makes. Leighton likes to help with changing her diaper, giving her a bath, brushing her hair and putting lotion on (her favorite). She is a great big sister (though was not too happy to take this picture...diva).
Sister stats
I couldn't believe it when I got home and checked Leighton's baby book and the girls are almost the exact same size at 2 months. Sweet, sweet, BIG babies :)
Here are Leighton's two months measurements:
Height: 23 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 13lbs 4oz (90th percentile)
I see a little resemblance in them but not much. The both definitely have the rolls going on :) It's funny how much bigger Leighton looks but I think it's just the angle of the picture because she is actually 4 oz less at this age! Love them so and can't wait to see how they add up next month.
