My parents came down on Friday and we went to dinner with my little sister who lives in town. After dinner they took Leighton to spend the night and Gracen and I drove down the next day. I think this is only the third time in 2.5 years that I have let her spend the night away from me. All three times have been with my parents and amazingly it is getting easier to let her go each time. Though I have to admit I always get to missing her at bedtime but know she is having a blast with Grammy & Poppy.
You know what else is amazingly easier? Having ONE child at a time :) Gracen went to bed on Friday at 7:30 and I had the rest of the night to MYSELF (over an hour of that time was spent looking for the video monitor that precious little Leighton hid in her backpack...sigh, but the rest of the night was relaxing). Not to mention that she slept in with me past 10 on Saturday morning and I was able to clean the downstairs before we headed to my parents. Gracen is much easier to take care of without Leighton around in fact it's just plain easy haha. BUT I must admit that things were a little too quiet around here without our big sissy.
Saturday night Gracen and I headed to church and Leighton stayed behind to play with her best friend (and cousin) Lyla. They are so adorable together and I am so thankful they are so close in age. My older sister, Robyn, is eight years older than me so I never would've guessed that we would have two girls a year apart. Love.
Sunday morning my parents took Leighton with them to church and Gracen and me headed over to spend some time with two of my best friends. We stopped and got bagels at Panera to take with us and I was introduced to drive thru Panera. It was everything I thought it would be :) We have one in Louisville but it is on the other side of town and I hadn't made my way over to experience it yet. The one in Lexington was right on the way! Convenience meets favorite food equals total love.
Us girls hung out all morning talking and laughing and loving on baby Gray. She was in a great mood and I was so proud of her for hanging with us for so long with only one tiny catnap (her favorite). Being in Lexington makes me miss my girlfriends SO much so it was great to catch up. Time flies by when I am visiting with them and I'm always left wishing there was more time. They are the best.
Sunday afternoon I packed up the girls and headed back to Louisville to start dinner since my little sister and her boyfriend were coming over. Toby & Matt bottled some homemade beer and Kylee and I made some decorations for our favorite cousin Sis' shower we are hosting in a couple of weeks. Can NOT wait for this lovely lady to say "I DO!"
I may have made enough baked spaghetti to feed a small army. Oops, guess four people really don't need an ENTIRE box of spaghetti haha. Lesson learned! I sent everyone home with leftovers and went to bed loving my weekend and all the fun that came with it. Ready to start the week with my sweet girls and hubs :)
