Hair today gone tomorrow :)

When the doctor put Gracen in my arms for the first time I was so in love. I couldn't stop cuddling with her and was in a pure euphoric state as most new mamas are :) Seriously, the first time I have held both of my girls are the two best moments in my life. I could almost have a baby every single year just to have that feeling...I said almost :)

I was so caught up in the moment of falling in love with my new princess that I didn't even notice her head full of hair until they took her from me to weigh her. I remember looking at Toby and saying, "Is all of that her hair? Is it black?" I was so surprised to see her hair and just couldn't believe it. She was perfect from head to toe but I never dreamed that my little bundle would come out with a full head of dark brown hair! I immediately fell in love with her locks as just about everyone did. Our nurse declared she easily won the award for "best hair" in the nursery.

The first couple of months she kept those thick locks though it did lighten some from dark brown to a dark blonde. I loved putting all different colors of bows in her hair and loved brushing it after her baths and spiking it up. Around two months it started to thin a little and turned an auburn/red color. I started to notice the bows weren't gripping as well as they had been and I started putting her in headbands some.

By three months I had to start using a smaller bow with a tighter grip. You could definitely tell her hair was thinning and it still had the red tone to it. I heard a million times that she was definitely going to be a red head. I kept saying we would just have to wait and see :) The biggest difference came between months four and five. All of a sudden her hair wasn't just thinning but she was completely losing it ALL. By five and a half months she was almost completely bald! We couldn't believe it. If I wanted her to wear a bow it HAD to be attached to a headband because she didn't have enough strands to keep a bow in.

And the funniest thing...now that it's starting to grow back it is coming in bright BLONDE. I'm pretty sure when it's all said and done she is going to be the blondest one in our bunch. Sweet little Gracen Rebecca just keeps her little surprises coming.
