First Haircut!

Yesterday I decided it was finally time to take Leighton for a haircut very teeny tiny trim. She was a bald baby and it has taken her forever to grow some locks or in less dramatic time 2.5 years :) Since I am dying for her to have long hair I have been reluctant to cut it. This week I was talking to my Nanny who had talked to her hairdresser who said (are you following...) that I should really get her hair trimmed to help it look more full and keep it healthy. So, yesterday we finally bit the bullet and took her to get it snipped.

I mentioned to her that we were going to get her hair cut and she would have to be very still and she kept saying, "AND PAINT MY NAILS, OKAAAY?" When we met her Daddy at the Salon he immediately said, "You have to be still just like when we paint your nails" and her obsessive comment finally made sense. Haha, leave it to Daddy...

She was very happy to see her Daddy and was screaming with joy, "My Daddy, my Daddy, MY DADDY is here." When Leighton is really happy to see someone she laughs with joy and tears almost come to her eyes. She is so so loving when she wants to be ;)

She walked in with her DADDY and we put her name on the list. There was a short wait but she didn't mind since it meant she got some extra time to play with all the cool stuff :)

When they called her name they told her to pick out a movie to watch and she picked Scooby Doo. Next, she had to pick out what seat to sit in. She decided on the fire truck. So many decisions!

I have to admit that I kinda freaked out when talking to the hairdresser about how much to cut. I insisted on just cutting the very ends of all her hair. He mentioned that it would be a good idea to even out her baby mullet length and I felt my heart start pounding. I kept saying I didn't want that much cut off and contemplated bolting to the door at that point. Thankfully the hairdresser and Toby were able to talk me down (I never claimed to not be dramatic). I decided to let the professional do what he thought best and I felt my blood pressure return to normal. With my craziness out of the way, it was time to get to work...

It was a little hard for her to sit still at first because she was driving the fire truck like she was headed to an actual fire haha. After we reminded her she had to be still she took the whole thing very serious.

He gave her this little fish game to look at while he cut the back. He told her to look down at the fish. Thank goodness I brought Toby along...I don't think I could've held the fish game, balanced Gracen and taken pictures all at once.

Daddy took Gracen so I could rest my arms. Toting that sweet girl around is really a workout. She was very serious about watching her big sister.

ALL DONE! She was so brave for the whole thing. We tried to get her to model her new 'do' at the end but she was still very serious about everything. The hairdresser was getting tickled with her because he said she looked so mad. Nope, not mad, just Leighton being serious. She did try to give a little smile.

She was all smiles for her baby sister. She tells me at least 20 times a day that she "weally likes her baby seeester." Love them so.

Since it was her very first haircut she got a certificate with her locks and a ballon. I can't believe how fast this little girl is growing up. Another first completed by Leighton and survived by Mama ;)

  1. WOW! Children's haircuts have really gotten fancy these days! Slide, chalk, movie, fire truck, game! Crazy all the things they have to keep the kids entertained! I want a salon that entertains us adults. :)
