I kicked off the weekend by chopping off my hair! I've wanted to do it for a while now but every time I get my hair done I find myself saying, "Just trim the ends...." It takes SO long to grow long hair that cutting it seems like a waste. BUT REALLY, it was time. I'm happy I finally did it. Yay for a new summer look!
Friday after dinner, I loaded up the girls and headed to a nearby park so they could play. They would go everyday if I would take them. Those two LOVE to play outside. Gracen gives me the worst anxiety when I take her because she wants to do everything and has absolutely NO fear. Climb the tallest slide? Sure! Fly down the slide? Would love to! Hang on the bars? Yay! Omg she is nonstop action and keeping up with her is a J-O-B. But, it's worth the mini panic attack to see her loving life and smiling from ear to ear :)
I didn't get any pictures of her because I was too busy chasing her through the playground but I did manage to snap this one of her pouting when it was time to leave. She is so funny! She thinks she is crossing her arms like big sissy Lei does when she's mad. Love her!

Leighton spends her time at the park making friends. She loves being around kids her age. She just runs and laughs and will yell at me, "Mama, dese are my new friends!" She also spends a lot of her time expressing her love for "Fiderman!" Here she is in her spiderman sunglasses throwing out her web. She is obsessed.

After the park we headed to Sonic for half-priced milkshakes. Nothing says summer quite like sitting outside on a warm night drinking a milkshake. The girls loved it.
Saturday morning, I packed up the girlies and we headed to Lexington for the rest of the weekend. We drive to Lexington so often that Leighton has the route memorized. She'll say, "First Louisville, den Shelbyville, den Frankfort, den da Princess castle and den Lexington!" She is so funny. Gracen was happy to be in Lexington too. Look at that tall little girl!!! Where is my BABY?!

Saturday the girls stayed with my parents while I headed to my sweet friend, Rachel's, 30th birthday party (it was a surprise!). There were a lot of laughs and a LOT of blurry pics taken with my iphone because my camera died :( I did manage to get a picture with my sweet Leighton and sister Kylee before I left for the night and one of us girls before the birthday girl arrived.

I somehow managed to take a TON of pictures that night with my phone. I was trying to document the night and I totally failed. Almost every picture is grainy & blurry and just not good lol. Too much Skinnygirl maybe :) Here is the best one I managed to get of the five of us girls. You'll just have to take my word that we had a great night.
The girls and I spent most of the day on Sunday lazing around my parent's house. Poor Gracen wasn't feeling good and was so clingy and cuddly all day long. I hated that she felt bad but soaked up all those extra cuddles. She told me, "my ear huuuurrrrrr," and pulled on her right ear all day long. She would perk up with tylenol but once it wore off she was back to being my little cuddlebug. It was pitiful. Thankfully, I was able to take her to the doctor on Monday morning and get her an antibiotic for a nasty double ear infection. Poor baby!
I figured she might have some fluid on her ear or a lot of drainage from allergies but I never expected both ears to be infected :( She was able to fight through the pain long enough to enjoy a Spiderman ice cream from the ice cream truck (that my Mom chased down in her PAJAMAS!). Leighton was a fan of the treat too. After scrubbing Gracen down in the tub once she finished (every last drop), my Mom and I quickly decided we would stick with vanilla from now on haha.
She also perked up long enough for a quick trip to the park. She got a few slides in and then I took her home for another bath and some more cuddles.

Sunday night (is anyone still even reading, I know this post is a tad on the loooong side lol...) my nephew Kyle spent the night and Leighton was over the moon. He was showing her funny videos on you tube and she was giggling nonstop. It was so sweet because she would let out a big ole belly laugh and then look at Kyle to make sure he was laughing too. She truly adores Kyle.
Monday we had a family cookout at my parents before heading back to our favorite Daddy! Gracen practically ran out the door when I told her it was time to go see him. We spent the evening outside and the girls enjoyed some popsicles before bed. We had a great weekend. Hope you did too!
