We had an amazing Easter weekend with all of our family. I have it ALL documented in over 200 pictures I took (someone loves their camera). Here is just a glimpse into our weekend...
The Easter bunny came a little early to our house since he knew we were headed to Lexington Saturday afternoon. Leighton was surprised ;)
I bet you know what Easter goodie she went for first :)
The bunny must have known he couldn't drop by without a baby doll for the princess! Smart bunny!
The giant egg was a hit too!
Of course it became even cooler when ELMO popped out!
Had to show Daddy some extra love for opening her candy!
Checking out her clubs :)
Starting to rethink how she feels about the Easter bunny :)
After a little lounging, bubble-blowing, golf practicing and breakfast eating we headed to Lexington to Grammy & Poppy's. We headed to church with the whole family in tow :)
Leighton was very excited to actually attend "big" church and not the nursery. We decided to take her with us because my parent's church is HUGE and we were afraid the nursery experience would terrify her. Plus we knew we had more than enough help with our crew :)
I'm pretty sure Grammy & Poppy wouldn't have allowed her to go to the nursery even if we tried :)
Second belly picture of the pregnancy! Six months today! Excited for how different next year will be with a two year old and eight month old. I hear matching sister dresses calling my name!!
Church was wonderful and Leighton lasted almost the whole time. She would have lasted the whole time had she been able to quit talking and calling for her Aunt Ky and cousin Kyle :) During worship she had both hands in the air praising Jesus. It was so adorable. I wish I'd brought my camera!
After church we headed over to my Nanny & Papaw's for some pizza & family time :)
Sweet picture of the cousins. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get the girls to both look at the camera and smile at the same time. Sweet Kyle held his smile for a million takes. He is a pro!
Her "cheese" face is getting better. AT least we have open eyes now!
Leighton and Lyla are best friends.
I can't believe in three short months we will be adding another sweet girl to the bunch :)
Here is our attempt at a cousins picture...
And a grandkids one (minus Chad who left early and our Chaser who is studying hard in New Zealand). Apparently too many people make getting a good picture difficult :)
Are you still with me? Hehe, I've never been good at making a long story short :) Moving along...
Next up is Easter morning at Grammy & Poppy's. Leighton woke up extra early to see what the Lexington bunny had brought!
She was happy to see it was candy. This bunny knew the way to her heart :)
It's never too early for sweets mama!
Nana and Granddaddy came over with ANOTHER Easter basket :)
Pretty girl waiting for Nana to open her book!
Reading!
Family picture time :)
Probably my favorite picture of the day. She was playing with a little egg that hopped across the table and she appeared quite shocked when it hopped right off into the floor. Love her so!
After a delicious lunch with family we headed over to my parent's church to watch my Dad & nephew be baptized. It was such a special way to spend Easter and is really worthy of it's own post so I will just share my favorite picture for now :)
Here they are standing together in the pond waiting to get baptized. It was so so sweet. I'll have more on the afternoon at the pond later this week :)
When we got home from the baptisms we decided the ground was dry enough to have the egg hunt outside. Our kids really took it serious, especially the little girls!
The girls were on a mission!!
Leighton insisted on carrying her heavy bucket :)
Found some candy along the way!
The girls with their loot.
Sweet cousins after they found all the eggs!
Okay, I realize that was a LOT of pictures but I just felt that each provided a glimpse into our special Easter weekend. I am so thankful for Jesus dying on the cross for all of us and feel blessed to be able to celebrate such a WONDERFUL occasion with all of our family and loved ones. Last night as I rocked a very tired little girl to sleep, we folded our hands together, closed our eyes and thanked Jesus for his wonderful gift of eternal life. My prayer for her would be to always remember the true meaning of Easter and the love that Jesus had for her so many years ago. Listening to the beautiful lyrics, "Living he loved me, dying he saved me, buried he carried my sins far away, rising He justified, freely forever, one day He’s coming oh glorious day," brought tears to my eyes. What a perfect Easter it was...all because of Jesus.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. --Matthew 28:5-6
I love all the pictures!! Henry got four baskets! One from us, one from mom, one from Nick's mom, and one from the cooks! Plus a stuffed animal from Nick's dad. My house is so full of candy! (I love it)
