Last night we took Leighton to Sesame Street Live! She doesn't really show much interest in tv but will usually watch Sesame Street for 10-15 minutes at a time. Her Nana (my MIL) bought her a Zoe doll when she was a baby and she sleeps with it every night. Sooo, for those reasons we consider Sesame Street her favorite show! (It is hard to find anything she is interested in besides dolls & books but we keep
When I saw the poster in our local mall, I called right away to get tickets for opening night and I am so glad I did because it was pretty darn adorable!
We headed downtown a little early to pick up our tickets at will call and grab something to eat. I had saved up my ONE caffeine drink for the day and planned to enjoy an ice cold fountain Coke at the pizza place. I was so disappointed when I walked in and saw they served Pepsi products :( Coke is my true love and Pepsi just can't add up. But, I still sucked it down because I am NOT one to pass up my ONE caffeine drink a day, I'm a pregnant girl with priorities! Leighton didn't seem to mind and was especially excited she got to sit in the booth like a big girl. See LARGE smile on face :)
After dinner, we walked around the corner to the theater.
Our little "Zoe" was getting pretty excited, so excited that she just couldn't keep her feather bow in long enough for a good picture :)
Once we got inside the theater her eyes got as big as saucers & you could tell she just KNEW something was up. She had her own seat but insisted on sitting in Daddy's lap!
She was so into the show she didn't touch her bow one time :)
Of course, she spotted the teeny tiny baby behind us!
She sat so still the entire show. I was sitting on the aisle but she wouldn't sit in my lap, I think I was a little too close to them for comfort. I must say I was quite impressed with the monsters & their dancing. They really knew how to break it down.
Can I also just add that Elmo has really stolen the show from Big Bird these days. AND, while I am providing commentary, can we all just sigh for homely little Prairie Dawn...bless her heart. Poor thing is in desperate need of a monster makeover.
I loved that Zoe was such a big part of the show because she doesn't show up too much in the regular episodes and she is Leighton's favorite after all!
Watching how happy Leighton was seriously made me tear up (hello pregnancy hormones). She was clapping her hands, waving & calling all the monsters by name. You could just see how excited she was (through her serious little demeanor). Her eyes especially lit up when Elmo, Zoe & Cookie Monster were on stage!
Near the end of the show, she did get up enough courage to sit on my lap for a few minutes. I was so happy :)
On our way out we bought our princess a t-shirt to sleep in (a pajama staple in our house much to my older sister's dismay hehe). It was the perfect souvenir for a perfect family night. I stole one last picture of my girl & her Daddy before we headed home.
We were sure she was going to fall asleep on the way home so when we saw she was still awake (and pulling on her clothes...sigh) we decided to stop for our first ice cream of the season. I LOVE WARM WEATHER.
Leighton shared some Cookies & Cream with Daddy and Black Raspberry Chip with mama. She loved every last bite!!!
We had such a fun time together and could really tell how much of a little girl she is becoming. It's truly amazing how much life changes once you add a little person into it. Never in a million years would I have thought that watching Sesame Street Live would beat out Opening Day of Keeneland but it totally did :) She stole my heart last night all over again and I am so lucky to be her mama.
Aww I'm so happy she loved it (not surprised about you tearing up though)! She is becoming such a sweet and big little girl. Love the outfit and can't wait to see the t-shirt! Love you all! xoxo Kye
